More underage news...

It was a busy morning on Sunday last (March 29th) for the juvenile section of the
club when Dowdallshill hosted the first round of the ógsport Lú
regional blitz for the u10 age group, three pitches were in operation
and approximately sixty children took part making up six teams, the
children represented Dowdallshill, Roche and Kilkerley/Malachi's with
two teams from each club.  Dowdallshill did very well winning three of
their four games they played, well done to the team mentors and those
who helped organise the games.

2nd match: Hill/OMahonys 2-7 St.Brides/Mochtas/Annaghminnom 1-5
3rd match: Hill O'Mahonys 2-11 St Josephs 1-10

Hill/OMahonys kept up their 100% record to date with a late burst against the Joes in Dromiskin. The H/OM were slow to start again but managed to get a hold of the game when it mattered. Dowdallshill lads who started were Chris Duffy, Danno Kerr and Sean Matthews. David McCrave and Stephen McGinn came on in the second half and had a positive impact.

U-18 Fixtures:
Hill/OMahonys V St. Geraldines (Monday 14th of April, 7pm in the Point Road)
21st of April is a bye
Kilkerley/Naomh Malachy V Hill OMahonys (Monday 28th of April)

U-16 Results:
Hill/OMahonys - Glen Emmets (H/OM won by a point)
Wolfe Tones - Hill/OMahonys (Wolfe Tones won well)

The H/OM under 16s have had mixed fortunes with a great opening win against the Emmets but lost against a very strong Wolfe Tones team in their second outing. Dowdallshill lads playing on this team include Fergal Mellon, Vincie Roe, Sean Duffy and Darren Rogers. All these have been featuring and doing well with Darren Rogers and Vinie Roe getting on the score sheet.

U-16 Fixtures
Hill/OMahonys V Mellifont Rovers (Wed 16th of April, 7pm in the Point Road)
Roceh Emmets V Hill/OMahonys (Wed 23rd of April, 7pm in Roche)

The under 18 lads have gotten off to a flying start with 2 wins from their 2 opening games of the Special League. Hill/OMahonys defeated Roche emmets by eight points with 6 lads from the Hill involved including David McCrave, Antone Rogers, Sean Matthews, Stephen McGinn, Chris Duffy and Paudie Reel. The Hill/OMahonys then went onto beat the Brides/Mochtas/A'minnom amalgamation in a more even and tightly contested affair. The H/Om trailed by a goal at half time but rallied on by manager Martin O Brien at half time and a much stronger and spirited display they managed to turn it round and win well in the end. The team is slowly starting to take shape and the Hill and OMahony lads should continue to progress well. Involved for the Hill that night were Sean Matthews, Daniel Kerr, Paudie Reel, David McCrave, Chris Duffy and Thomas Thornton. Antone Rogers has a sprained ankle and will be out of action for circa 6 weeks and although a big loss will hopefully be back soon for the big games. The u-18s next outing is away to St. Josephs next Monday April 7th.

U-16/Minor Football 2008..

Dowdallshill u-16 and u-18 lads have amalgamated with Sean O' Mahony's this year. The u-18s Hill/O'Mahony team have their first outing on Wednesday, March 19th in the first round of the Special League at home to Roche Emmets. The u-16s have their first match on Wednesday, April 2nd. Fixtures will be posted up shortly on this website.

Challenge Match:

Dowdalshill 0-9 -- O Raghallaighs 4-10

The u-16s and u-18s from Dowdalshill combined played a friendly last Friday night (March 7th) in Darver against the O'Raghallaighs. Although defeated by a strong O'Raghallaighs team they were many postives on the night. Stephen McGinn aka "Spud" was undoubtedly the Hill's man of the match and played a stormer at left half back. Antone Rogers scored 5 points on the night and worked tirelessly throughout. Sean McCoy and Dido McCrave were solid at the back while Thomas Thornton had a better game when moved into the full back position. Paudie Reel had a very good game at right half back and scored a great point in the second half. Of the younger lads Vincie Roe, Sean Duffy, and Darren Rogers looked sharp up front while Fergal Mellon put in a great performance at corner back. Although grateful to Seamais Agnew for standing in, Dowdallshill will rue some poor goalkeeping.

Scorers: Antone Rogers (0-5), Paudie Reel (0-1), Stephen McGinn (0-1), Vincie Roe (0-1), Marcus (0-1)

The Hill team were:
                                      Seamus Agnew

Sean Duffy                      Sean McCoy                Fergal Mellon

Paudie Reel                    Dido McCrave               Stephen MCGinn

                          Antone Rogers         Joe Bloggs
