Underage players in starring roles...

Several members of our underage teams were involved in notable victories on Wednesday night.

The D'hill/Cuchulainn Gaels Under-14 team ran-up 3-16, on their way to claiming the scalp of Cooley, in the Louth U-14 League.

Colin O'Connor scored 2-1 of the combination side's total, while Daniel Fu contributed 1-4. Others on the team were Andrew Kerr, Stefan Morrissey and Mickey Cummins. Well done to all 5!

And at girls' level, Ciara O'Connor and Claire O'Hagan were among the pointscorers for Louth, in their Leinster U-16 FC semi final against Longford over in Killoe. Both girls scored a point each.  Louth now face either Westmeath or Offaly in the Final on Saturday July 11th. All at the club would like to wish the girls the very best of luck.

League match falls through/next c'ship game

Sunday's Division 3 League at home to the John Mitchells failed to materialise, after the Bailiebailia side failed to show-up. Presumably, we'll now be awarded the two points.

Meanwhile our 4th Round match in the JFC against Stabannon Parnells, has been confirmed for Sunday evening, July 5th. The game will be played in Dromiskin at 7.45.

Damien stars in RTE series

Our very own Damien Fanning is quickly making a name for himself on our TV screens, in the RTE documentary series, 'Traffic Blues'. Damien, our regular full-back, is based as a Garda at Dundalk station, and works as part of the Traffic Corps, patrolling the roads around the greater Dundalk area. The current TV series follows various Traffic Corps divisions around the country, and the situations they are forced to endure from drivers flouting the law. We look foward to watching Damien performing his duties over the remainder of the series! RTE 1, Sunday nights 8.30pm.

First team earn vital c'ship win..

After consecutive defeats in our first-2 JFC matches, our first team gave themselves a sporting chance of making the knockouts, with a comprehensive win over the John Mitchells on Sat night.

Big turnout to remember Enda..

There was a tremendous turnout at the weekend, for the memorial mass in memory of our late colleague, Enda Hughes RIP.

The esteem in which he was held, was borne-out by the large attendance of club members and representatives of An Garda Siochana, who thronged the function room in the clubhouse. Up to 30 members of Enda's family and friends also made the journey over from County Mayo to attend the service.

The mass was celebrated by Enda's uncle, who delivered a very moving homily.

A big thank you to all those who attended, and who helped in the organisation of the mass.

Late penalty scuppers victory hopes..

A late penalty awarded by referee Mickey Boyle denied our second team a victory over St Pats, in last Friday night's latest round of games in the Division 4C League.

Brigid's Park hosts schools game..

Very few schools matches have been played at St Brigid's Park in recent times, so it was refreshing to see 2 local schools battle it out in the Louth Under-14 Louth Schools c'ship on Tuesday afternoon last.

The teams in opposition were Marist Dundalk and St Marys Drogheda, and it was the Drogheda school who prevailed, on a 4-7 to 2-11 scoreline.

Ben Mc Loughlin (Sean O'Mahonys), was prominent throughout for the Marist.

Fechins put early dent in c'ship hopes...

Our Junior FC campaign began in Haggardstown on Friday evening, but it wasn't the start we were hoping for, against one of the title favourites, St Fechins. Full details on our 'Fixtures-Results 2009' section >>

Minors involved in latest win...

David Mc Crave, Anton Rogers and Vincy Roe were again part of the  'Hill/O'Mahonys/Mochtas team that beat the Geraldines 0-8 to 0-6, in the latest round of the Louth Minor League on Monday night.

Well done to all 3!

Brave effort, but no rewards...

Our first team are still chasing their 1st win of the Division 3 League campaign, after Young Irelands finished with a flourish to deny us in Sunday's clash at St Brigid's Park.

Memorial mass for Enda

The club and an Garda Siochana have come together to organise a memorial mass in honour of our late colleague, Enda Hughes.

The mass has been arranged for Saturday evening May 9th at 7pm in the St Brigid's Park Hall.

Gerry and Rose's Big Day

The new Mr and Mrs Mc Shane on their wedding day, Friday 17th April.

C'ship opener in Haggardstown..

Our JFC opener against St Fechins, has been confirmed for Friday evening May 1st, in Haggardstown at 6.30pm. Referee is Stephen Johnson.

Ladies c'ship draw..

The draw for the 1st Round of the Louth Ladies c'ship has been made, and our women's team have been pitted against the Newtown Blues. The match has been pencilled-in for August 16th. And should the 'Hill ladies progress, then a date with newly formed Na Piarsigh awaits in the Q-Finals.

3 'Hill players on Minor combo...

3 of our U-18 players were involved in the 'Hill/O'Mahonys/Mochtas amalgamation, which started-off the new Louth Minor League Div 1 campaign with a win on Monday night last (6th), at the expense of Cooley.

The final score was 'Hill/O'Mahonys/Mochtas 0-13, Cooley 2-5.

The 2 corner backs on the team were our own Anton Rogers and Vincie Roe, while David 'Dido' Mc Crave started at full-forward from where he scored a point.

Well done to all 3 lads, and hopefully, the amalgamation will be able to make a big impression in the remaining games!

Congrats Ciaran and Georgina!

A big congratulations to our former Captain Ciaran O'Callaghan and his wife Georgina, on the birth of their new bouncing baby girl, Molly, last week.

Ciaran of course, was team captain for our famous 2003 JFC victory, and went-on to win a 2nd c'ship medal in 2005..and he remains a vital member of our current team.

Word has it, that 'Calla' is up to his knees in dirty nappies at the moment, but we hope to see him back at St Brigid's Park very soon!

To all concerned, well done and best wishes, from all at the club.

Bumper turnout for annual Quiz...

A record 45 tables contested our Annual Fundraising Table Quiz in the Lisdoo on Tuesday night March 16th.

And at the end of 5 testing rounds, it was the team named 'East Coast Coolers' who finished top of the pile, with a grand total of 88 points.

The winning team comprised Andy Murphy, Lori Mc Coy, David O'Hagan and Mark Gilroy.

Finishing just a point adrift in 2nd place were the 'Blow Ins', and their team members were Sean Duffy, Sinead Duffy, Fiona Walsh and David Walsh.

And in the 3rd place with 85 points, were the 'Credit Crunchers'. Peter Hughes was joined on that team by Patrick Faughnan, Mark Daly, Niamh Hughes and Olivia Hughes.

A big thank you to everyone who entered teams, and the turnout was one of our biggest ever!

C'ship draw 2009...

Nothing will come-easy for our adult team in the coming season, after the draw for the JFC paired us with St Kevins, the John Mitchells, Stabannon, St Fechins and the Finbarrs.

On paper, the battle for a top-3 spot looks to be between ourselves, the Fechins, Stabannon and the Barrs, with the other 2 sides considered outsiders.

The Fechins have former Meath Wolfe Tones manager Tony Kearney in charge for the new season, and his presence alone, is sure to instill alot of confidence in the players. 'Tonto' Donaghy has arrived from the Blues to aid their cause, although they've lost promising minor Andy Mc Donnell to the Blues.

The Finbarrs won promotion from the Division 3 League at the end of last season and will be looking to build on that, however manager Derek Walsh has departed the scene in slightly controversial circumstances.

Stabannon, although nothing like the force they once-were, must still be treated with respect, and will be no pushovers..

The Kevins had a very disappointing 2008, and look to be on a downward spiral, ever since winning the Junior in 2006...

While the Mitchells are a hard team to guage.. at full-strength, they could pose problems..
